Here is my intro

It’s a well-known fact that teens spend an excessive amount of time on social networks. Nearly 92% of teens use social media daily. This raises the question of why teenagers are so active on social media. Social media usage is primarily for texting with friends and keeping up on the latest online trends. People can also make new friends through social media.

Social media is not a positive or negative factor in our lives. It has both pluses and minuses.

These positive factors include:

They can become more confident individuals by learning skills in communication and social interaction that will be useful for them in the long-term.

They can communicate with friends by texting or email.

Social media can be a great place for teens to express themselves and share ideas.

They will be able to learn about the latest news around the world and increase their understanding of the many issues that are relevant outside of their immediate environment.

However, there are some side effects that can be dangerous.

They may spend too much time socializing, which can lead to a loss of connection with the real world.

They could share their personal information, posing immediate danger

They might be considered cyber bullied victims.

Strangers could harass them

They might feel less self-esteem, which could lead to them questioning themselves.

Teenagers care a lot about how they look on social media. How many people like a photo they have posted can impact their image in a huge way. UCLA found that teens react to large numbers of likes in the same way as they do when they win prizes. When people approve of them, the brain part responsible for visual attention is activated. Adolescence brings out the most activation in the brains responsible for reward circuitry. They feel accomplished when they see approval. They are enticed to use social media for the approval and desire the rewards.

A person may feel content if they have a lot of likes. However, a small number can cause problems with their character and personality. They may change their entire personality and nature in order to please strangers online. Negative comments, etc. will be accepted. they take it all in their stride and become anxious and stressed.

Teenagers who spend too much time on social media have many negative consequences. These kids were more stressed than someone who moderated their use of social media. This can slow down the development of the teenager’s brain. Teens who use social media excessively are wired to want immediate gratification.

It begs the question: Why are teens using social media for validation? Teens use social media to seek out escape and connections. Teenagers, particularly girls can pick and choose the photo they want to post on social networks. All their peers will see it and judge. Their morale will rise and they will want more. Although this may seem harmless, there could be deeper psychological issues at play.

Teenagers will go to any lengths to gain social media followers and likes. Teenagers can be branded vain. Teenage girls often post sexy photos about themselves. They are usually low self-esteem girls who believe that sharing’revealing’ photos will help them get more attention and likes. These girls don’t realize the consequences of sharing these photos. They could be treated rudely, abusively and vulgarly and judged. This could lead to them being bullied and even harassed.

They are still posted by girls, as they get many likes. Teenagers have low self-esteem, which is an important issue that is often overlooked. It can lead to loneliness and anxiety which can increase the chances of developing depression. It all comes down to the environment. Social media can also contribute to this problem. Females are less confident when they see pictures of models and actresses with unrealistic body standards.

The teenagers are not the only ones affected. Their parents would be extremely worried about their child. Provocative photos may result in negative comments as well as positive reactions from the girl. Negative comments will undoubtedly affect the brain’s psychology and it will show up in the girl’s daily life. The parents would need to address the concerns of their child that would lead them to stress and worry.

This is how society views girls when they are exposed. People will judge her incompetent and stupid, and she will show her body for all to see.

The girl can decide whether to post these photos or not. They don’t know what it will do to them, so they should be made aware of the consequences. Teenagers are often too quick to act without thinking before they do it. They then suffer the consequences. They need to be educated.

Teenagers who seek acceptance via social media are more likely than teens who are open to accepting themselves as they are. Obsessive attention to their accounts can lead them to try and impress everyone. It is normal for humans to compare themselves to others and adjust our personas to please others. Teenagers are more likely to feel this way and can be subjected to stress and pressure. Teenagers will become demented if they feel accepted and loved by everyone. Teenagers will feel compelled to develop their identities at this time, and will be influenced in a million ways.

Peer pressure can lead to anxiety and stress. While the teen may not be aware of what is happening, their family and friends will. Peer pressure is a cause of mood swings, depression, and other problems. Peer pressure can cause confusion in teens during a crucial time when they are trying to develop their personality and character. Teenagers that are looking for validation and a sense of belonging are more likely to be pushed to the limit by peer pressure.

Teenagers must be taught how to express their opinions in all possible ways. Others’ opinions shouldn’t be considered as their own.

Conclusion. Teenagers are influenced by social media validation. They are more likely to be in a spiral of mental illness, with stress and anxiety. Their low self-esteem causes them to become more dependent on social media for attention. Teens can become restless, anxious and distracted by high anxiety. This syndrome can lead to disaster if it is not addressed. Teenagers that crave this attention should also be addressed and asked why.

Reflection. I’ve learned so much about the harmful effects of social networking on teenagers through my research. As a teenager, I learned that I don’t have to be perfect for everyone else. I can only improve myself and make my life better. I was shocked to learn of the number of teens suffering from mental problems due to their obsession with attention.
